The Town of Crossfield is a forward-thinking organization committed to maintaining and improving the infrastructure that supports our community’s growth and quality of life. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Asset Management and GIS Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in managing our infrastructure assets while utilizing GIS tools to streamline processes and drive informed decision-making.

 

YOUR Essential Functions

Asset Management Program:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Corporate Asset Management Policy, Asset Management Strategy, and Asset Management Plans.
  • Work cooperatively with all stakeholders (internal and external) to develop, implement, and maintain appropriate business processes and systems to support the ongoing delivery of best practices in asset management. 
  • Ensure asset data is up-to-date and proactively managed within a structured framework that allows the Town to effectively manage and optimize the performance of its asset portfolio. 
  • Monitor asset condition, performance, and usage trends to identify opportunities for optimization, reallocation, or replacement.
  • Prepare reporting on asset utilization, condition assessments, lifecycle stages, renewal or replacement, and future planning and investment.

GIS Management and Data Analysis:

  • Create, maintain, and update corporate GIS datasets and spatial asset inventories.
  • Provide cartographic and analytical products to support asset lifecycle planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the GIS service provider to improve system functionality and support asset management objectives.
  • Provide technical support and respond to GIS and asset-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Aggregate and analyze data from diverse sources to inform asset management strategies.

Other Duties:

  • Stay current on all asset management and GIS best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on procurement and maintenance initiatives.
  • Contribute, facilitate, and support regulatory reporting requirements including assisting in Financial Statement reporting. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Infrastructure and Community Growth.

 

What YOU Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline (Engineering Technology, Asset Management, or other related discipline) or an equivalent combination of education qualifications and experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive and related asset management experience and a minimum of 1 year of budgeting and work planning experience.
  • Knowledge of financial principles related to depreciation, ROI, budgeting, and familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • 1-2 years in a municipal or like setting is considered an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license with Class 5 and provide a current 3-year driver's abstract.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software.
  • Certification in Asset Management is an asset.

  • Exceptional communication and public relations skills, with the ability to effectively convey information both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support the fostering of strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills, able to prioritize tasks and work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive internal and external information.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while standing, walking, or moving for extended periods.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace.
