The Job

The Town of Edson is seeking an experienced Information Technology Manager to oversee all IT functions within the organization. Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, the IT Manager will be responsible for managing the Town’s IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, software, and cloud services. The role involves leading the service desk team in delivering exceptional technical support while ensuring the security, efficiency, and continuous improvement of IT operations. This position drives technological innovation, collaborates with all departments, and safeguards the Town’s digital environment against emerging threats.

The Candidate 

The successful candidate will lead the Town’s IT strategy, fostering technological innovation while safeguarding the digital environment against emerging threats. A strategic IT professional, you have expertise in infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and service delivery. Your strong leadership and problem-solving skills enable independent decision-making and effective collaboration. Experience managing IT teams, overseeing third-party service providers, and implementing cost-effective technology solutions is required. You stay informed on industry trends and threats, ensuring compliance with security protocols. Budget management experience and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for this role.

In addition to the above, we require applicants to possess: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. 

  • Five years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and service desk management, with at least three years in a management role, is required. Municipal experience will also be considered an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of network and server management, including virtualization and cloud technologies.

  • Expertise in computer networks, network administration, and network installation.

  • Current knowledge and experience with Telecommunications landline and cellular systems, including Nortel and Call Pilot landline equipment.

  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and cyber security best practices.

  • Successful completion of a satisfactory criminal record check.

What do we offer?

Compensation

The wage range for this position is $95,400, to $118,400, per year, however, this is negotiable for the right candidate. Candidate placement within the range during the first six months on the job is dependent on experience and available budget.
