Mark your calendar for Munis 101
The Elected Officials Education Program (EOEP) is delivering Munis 101 with the support of Municipal Affairs to help meet the Municipal Government Act requirements for council orientation.
Munis 101 sessions are being offered exclusively for summer villages in September as they hold their elections in the summer. The first Summer Village course will take place via four Zoom sessions from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, from September 14 to October 5. The second Summer Village course will also take place via Zoom sessions from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, from September 22 to October 13. Registration for these sessions is open on the EOEP site.
The following 1.5-day regional sessions will be conducted in person after the October 18 elections:
- Whitecourt – November 4 and 5
- Grande Prairie – November 6 and 7
- Bonnyville - November 9 and 10
- Edmonton – November 15 and 16 (in coordination with the AUMA convention)
- Edmonton – November 22 and 23 (in coordination with the RMA convention)
- Lethbridge – December 2 and 3
- Strathmore – December 6 and 7
- Three Hills – December 9 and 10
Registration for these courses will open later this summer.
In appreciation of the financial strain municipalities are under, EOEP is making every effort to keep registration fees low, while offering top-quality education materials and experience. The registration fee for virtual sessions is $275 per person and $375 for in-person sessions.
Munis 101 is the foundational course of our new Municipal Elected Leaders Certificate bestowed in partnership with the University of Alberta’s Augustana Education. The certificate recognizes an elected leader’s commitment to ongoing education through the completion of all seven EOEP courses. Many municipal elected officials are already well on their way to receiving this certificate, so don’t miss out!
