 ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to serve as a Community Peace Officer, committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment in Fox Creek. This role is vital in ensuring our community remains a place where residents can live, work, and raise their families with confidence. The ideal candidate will engage actively with our rural community, maintain a visible and approachable presence, and uphold the enforcement of Town Bylaws and Provincial Statutes, contributing to the safety and well-being of all residents.

 WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Will be required to adhere to processes and policies in support of  Municipal goals and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Enforce Town of Fox Creek Bylaws and applicable Provincial Statutes to support municipal goals and maintain public safety.
  • Investigate complaints, conduct regular patrols, and address bylaw violations to ensure compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with the RCMP and other enforcement agencies to resolve community concerns and enhance public safety.
  • Educate residents on bylaws, promoting voluntary compliance through community engagement and awareness.
  • Issue warnings, notices, and citations as needed, and prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings when required.
  • Maintain accurate records, comply with regulatory reporting standards, and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Provide support at community events to uphold public safety and bylaw compliance.
  • Follow all safety protocols and undertake additional duties as assigned to support the Town’s enforcement objectives.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement, Criminology, or equivalent education and experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of law enforcement experience.

  • Eligibility for appointment as a Community Peace Officer under the Public Security Peace Officer Program.

  • Successful completion of an approved physical abilities test for uniformed enforcement roles.

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Provincial Driver's Abstract.

  • Class 5 Drivers License 

Additional Requirements:

  • 5+ years of municipal government experience.

  • Knowledge of municipal legislation, bylaws, and enforcement practices.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with the  public.

  • Ability to build and maintain a positive image through community  engagement.

  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

 

 WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  •  Full-Time Permanent up to 40 hours/week
  • Evenings and weekends will be required

WHAT WILL YOU BE PAID?

  •  $ 39.12 - $ 58.92/hour
  • Placement within this range will depend on experience
