Waste Management
Waste management, as defined by the United Nations Statistics Division, is the collection, transportation, processing, treatment, and disposal of waste. It also includes controls, monitoring, and regulations related to the collection, transport and processing of waste.
Waste management is an integral service that municipalities provide to their citizens which helps ensure safety, health, and quality of life for residents. In Alberta, waste is regulated through the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, with supporting regulation for activities such as waste control, beverage container recycling, and electronics recycling designation.
