What YOU’RE Responsible for:

Financial Leadership: 

  • Oversee a combined annual Capital and Operational Budget exceeding $69 million.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze results, initiate corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maximize returns on investments and maintain relationships with the investment community.
  • Develop strategies based on financial trends and fiscal forecasts.
  • Manage financial planning systems and external audits.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Contribute to organizational financial strategies and establish functional objectives.
  • Stay updated on regulations, professional publications, and participate in relevant organizations.
  • Partner with the senior leadership team and provide strategic recommendations to the CAO.
  • Build a long-term vision and communicate organizational priorities effectively.

Change Management:

  • Lead and manage change initiatives within the department and organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and manage risk-taking.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive change management plans.

Engaged Leadership:

  • Invest in team development and create a positive working environment.
  • Set clear expectations, evaluate performance, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the team is equipped to meet the City’s current and future needs.

Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate effective relationships with various stakeholders, including residents and regional partners.
  • Promote the City’s vision and build support through influence and negotiation.

Leadership and Accountability:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality leadership and organizational values.
  • Ensure resources align with organizational goals and celebrate achievements.
  • Uphold the City’s Health and Safety program and promote a positive safety culture.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain responsibility for the City’s Health and Safety program, ensure compliance, and actively participate in safety activities.

What YOU Bring:

  • Educational & Experience Background: 
    • A university degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration.
    • A Chartered Professional Accounting designation (CPA). 
    • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including management and supervision. 
    • In-depth knowledge of municipal financial administration and accounting principals
    • Proven track record in strategic and operational leadership within a municipal setting. 
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrate multi-faceted leadership, solutions-oriented approach, innovative, and tactful political astuteness, and an ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Expert communicator, comfortable with public speaking, and able to delegate, develop people, and hold them accountable.
  • Customer Service Focus: Approach work with a foundational spirit of service, fostering this spirit within the organization and with key partners.
  • Decision-Making Abilities: Pragmatic decision-maker and problem-solver, capable of making quick, practical decisions using multiple problem-solving tools and techniques.

  • A salary range of  $126,817.60 - $165,474.40 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
