REGIONAL DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF

FULL TIME- PERMANENT | LOCATION: BONNYVILLE, AB

 

The Regional Deputy Fire Chief is an integral leadership team member within the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA). The Regional Deputy Fire Chief reports directly to the Regional Chief of Emergency Services and is responsible for overseeing strategic and effective organizational management while enhancing services, fostering operational excellence, and growth. Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the leadership team, with a primary focus on fire operations, jointly lead and manage performance across BRFA's other emergency divisions, ensuring effective operations and collaboration
  • Emergency response management, which includes responding to, or establishing command of fire events and other emergencies as established by the Standard Operating Guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of current strategic and tactical methods for both Fire and EMS
  • Demonstrate operational knowledge of EMS delivery, including Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health frameworks
  • Coordinate budgets to identify training needs for firefighters, PSAP communicators, and EMS personnel
  • Oversee fire prevention programs, including participating in investigations, inspections, and community education efforts
  • Oversee fleet and equipment programs, including capital planning, maintenance programs and equipment life-cycling
  • Ensure operational knowledge of 911 PSAP functionality, including the IT framework for 911 call-taking and emergency dispatching of fire services and Community Peace Officers


    Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Emergency Services, Business Administration or a related field, with knowledge of Local Government Administration. (A combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a municipal setting (or equivalent municipal experience)
  • Previous experience in leading, coaching and mentoring volunteer Fire Services
  • EMR or Paramedic certification considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license (with acceptable abstract)
  • Enhanced Security Clearance
