Priority Update: Alberta Environment and Parks
Event Summary
A year has passed since Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) updated municipalities on its regulatory modernization initiative.
Alberta Municipalities is hosting an online update and Q&A session with senior representatives of AEP on Monday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The ministry has been modernizing its regulatory system to reduce red tape and create efficiencies and transparency while maintaining high environmental standards. Progress has been made on modernizing policies, introducing technology solutions, and streamlining applications.
Progress has also been made on several significant sub-regional land use planning initiatives and on improving overall Crown Land management. This work contributes to providing industry, municipalities, and investors with the greater levels of certainty they need to evaluate long-term investment and planning decisions.
The first part of the presentation will be an update on the regulatory transformation. The ministry will also share upcoming priorities of the ministry, including sustainable outdoor creation, Crown Land Modernization, air policy, and water quality initiatives.
