Environmental Planning Engineer 2
The Opportunity:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an Environmental Planning Engineer 2 to fill a permanent full-time position within the Environmental Planning section. The Environmental Planning Engineer 2 is responsible for the preparation, administration and completion of maintenance plans/capital projects and their associated budgets within various sections of the Environmental Services (Water, Wastewater, Waste Management, and Construction & Maintenance). The Engineer will also be responsible for providing input into approvals/master plans for the various sections.
The primary focus of this role will be within the Waste Management area.
As our preferred candidate you will have:
- B.Sc. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Professional Engineer registered with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
- Four years’ experience in the management (design/construction/project management) of infrastructure maintenance projects related to:
- Waste Management facilities (preferred),
- Water treatment plant,
- Wastewater treatment plant,
- Potable water distribution systems, and
- Non-potable water collection systems.
- Experience in Landfill Operations (preferred)
- Experience in treatment plant operations and maintenance is an asset
- Previous experience in master planning and approval document preparation
- Broad knowledge of project management, construction methods and practices
- Extensive Waste Management (preferred), water treatment and wastewater treatment process knowledge
- Self–motivated / self-disciplined
- Effective team leader and team member
