Municipal Energy Manager
The Town of Peace River is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to serve as our Municipal Energy Manager (MEM). The MEM will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Energy Management Plan that aligns with the criteria set out by the Municipal Climate Change Action Center (MCCAC).
This role requires strategic planning, project management, and collaboration with the MCCAC staff and internal stakeholders in order to be successful.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement an Energy Management Plan to optimize municipal energy consumption.

Identify energy-saving opportunities and lead initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Oversee the implementation of energy efficiency projects and infrastructure upgrades across municipal facilities.

Facilitate energy audits and analyze data to drive informed decision-making.

Collaborate with municipal departments to integrate energy efficiency measures into daily operations.

Monitor, evaluate, and report on energy consumption trends, cost savings, and emissions reductions.

Create reports and presentation materials will be shared with Council, Senior Leadership, and with the MCCAC.

Stay informed on emerging technologies, policies, and industry standards related to energy management.
Qualifications and Skills

A degree in energy management, sustainability, engineering, environmental science, or a related field is necessary.

Demonstrated experience in energy audits, efficiency programs, or sustainability project management.

Knowledge of municipal operations, energy efficiency technologies, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies (preferred).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively across departments and engage with stakeholders from differing backgrounds.

Familiarity with relevant energy regulations, policies, and funding opportunities.

Criminal Record Check, Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract required.

Full Time • Temporary Position
The MEM is a 2—year, grant funded position through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre.
Salary: $80,946—$101,732
Hours: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
