ACP grant applications open until Jan 5, 2021
The Minister for Municipal Affairs recently sent a notice to our members advising that applications are now open for the Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) grants for 2020/21. ACP enables municipalities to collaborate with their neighbouring municipalities on local and regional priorities. This is important work that will help boost Alberta’s economic recovery and emergency preparedness.
Applications must be submitted through ACP Online via MAConnect.
The Minister’s letter noted that the evaluation criteria for the Intermunicipal Collaboration (IC) component have been expanded to focus on pandemic-related and other risk-mitigation supports, including intermunicipal emergency preparedness and business continuity. The letter explained that “on-time reporting is encouraged under the IC by the implementation of phased funding, whereby 25 per cent of funding will be withheld until all requirements are fully met. The formula for transitional and infrastructure funding under the Municipal Restructuring (MR) component has been adjusted to provide funding neutrality between the dissolution and amalgamation processes. Regional governance studies will also be supported through phased funding.”
IC applications are due by January 5, 2021, while Mediation and Cooperative Processes, MR, and Strategic Initiatives applications will be accepted up to February 5, 2021. Confirmation of the Municipal Internship (MI) application deadline will be announced in the formal MI invitation email.
