August 1 deadline for Anti-Racism Community Grant
In fall 2017, Alberta’s Minister of Education consulted community organizations across Alberta about how to overcome issues of racism. The consultation led to the release of a report on June 27, 2018, that outlines 12 recommendations including a commitment to create an Anti-Racism Community Grant (ARCG) program. The grant supports initiatives that raise awareness and understanding of racism and its impact on all Albertans. The program fosters cultural awareness and cross-cultural understanding in communities across the province by offering matching funding up to a maximum of $25,000 for projects that address racism in geographic regions, or in particular communities of racialized/marginalized people.
Note: municipalities are ineligible to apply for the funding but may consider notifying and partnering with eligible community organizations or offer financial assistance to allow partner organizations to meet the necessary funding match.
Submission deadlines for 2018-19:
- Intake 1 - August 1, 2018
- Intake 2 - November 1, 2018
- Intake 3 - January 1, 2019
