AUMA looking into GST issue

The Town of Peace River recently alerted AUMA and all Alberta municipalities to an auditor’s report from the Canadian Revenue Agency that specifies a cost share agreement may constitute a taxable supply, and be subject to GST.

AUMA is reaching out to Canadian Excise Tax consultants and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to seek more information on this issue and to explore potential solutions.

We will be in close contact with the Town of Peace River as they move through the appeal process and will provide updates to members through the weekly Digest as appropriate.
