Consultation on amendments to the Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is seeking stakeholders’ input on the amendments to the Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations (WSER). It is open for comments until March 31.

The focus of this consultation will be on:

• Transitional authorization: ECCC is allowing eligible communities another opportunity for an extension.
• Expansion of existing temporary bypass authorization: Expand the existing temporary bypass authorization to include scheduled release of wastewater when municipalities need to maintain, repair, or upgrade their wastewater treatment facilities.
