Federal MPs attend AUMA Executive Meeting
On March 7, 2019, AUMA’s Executive Committee had the chance to discuss priority issues with two federal Elected Officials: Amarjeet Sohi, MP for Edmonton Millwoods and Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Matt Jeneroux. MP Edmonton Riverbend, Shadow Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Urban Affairs.
Topics covered included the Gas Tax Fund, the need for funding to support broadband in small communities, concerns regarding impacts of Bill C-69 on energy projects, and the overall need for infrastructure funding for municipalities.
AUMA appreciates both Members of Parliament taking the time to attend our meeting and providing AUMA Executive the opportunity to ask questions and raise awareness of municipal issues that need to be addressed at the federal level.
AUMA also participated in a technical briefing with the federal government on C-69 on Monday, March 4. The following links provide more information on this important issue. AUMA will continue to follow up on this matter as there are a number of unresolved issues that need to be addressed.
