Helping your employees achieve their best selves

This week marks the celebration of mental health week. Good mental health has various definitions, but one central theme emerges through them all: good mental health encompasses our sense of self, purpose, resilience, and belonging. We all experience difficulties that can impact our mental health. These difficulties, as varied as they are, take away from our ability to enjoy life to the fullest.

Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) outlined in their recent first quarter report that usage rates were a mere two per cent. While mental health is a trending topic, the stigma still exists. Sub-optimal mental health can affect work notably productivity, absenteeism, and work-place safety.

There are opportunities for assistance in achieving a state of wellbeing. The EFAP is a valuable tool to help your staff get the best wholistic health. Mental health, stress, and relationship issues are three areas most discussed by our clients. Seventy per cent of clients had improvements in their ability to cope with job demands and 94 per cent of the clients that used EFAP services said they would recommend EFAP and use the service again.

EFAP is included at no cost for members of AUMA’s Employee Benefits Program. Employee Benefits members can access promotional materials (posters, postcards, and wallet cards) to encourage their employees to use EFAP services and promote wellness.
