ICIP funds coming soon
Following the federal government’s announcement of a dedicated funding stream for COVID-19 resiliency under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), Alberta Infrastructure has shared with AUMA that all funds currently allocated to Alberta through this program will be distributed shortly.
This is great news for Alberta’s municipalities as these projects will ensure strengthened core services and creation of jobs across the province. Examples of projects that will be getting underway soon include upgrades to the water treatment plant in Provost, regional flood mitigation in Sexsmith, and the development of an agri-food industrial park in Vegreville.
While the $84.1 million allocated to COVID-19 resiliency does not represent additional funds for the program, this reallocation of existing funds will allow the province to address seniors and healthcare facilities across Alberta.
The full list of projects that have been approved by the federal government can be found on Infrastructure Canada’s website.
