Minister Carr speaks to Trans Mountain Pipeline

The Federal Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr visited Edmonton recently and provided an update on the Trans Mountain pipeline. Minister Carr spoke about the positive impacts of Alberta’s oil industry on all Canadians, and the federal government’s agreement with Kinder Morgan to purchase the Trans Mountain Expansion Project and its related pipeline and terminal assets.

In mid-May, AUMA sent a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau in support of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion. The letter, signed by 167 Alberta mayors from cities, specialized municipalities, towns, villages and summer villages, showed that Alberta municipalities recognize the potential economic and environmental benefits. AUMA also undertook a social media initiative highlighting municipal support for the project, the jobs it will create, and the positive impact it will have on our economy.
