Municipal risk management: decommissioning emergency vehicles
It is important to decommission emergency service vehicles appropriately. Emergency services vehicles include police and bylaw vehicles, fire trucks, and ambulances, where integrated services exist.
It is the municipality’s responsibility to remove all decals, lights, radios, and other unique, non-standard features when vehicles are delivered to auction or a salvage yard in accordance with the Vehicle Equipment Regulation of the Traffic Safety Act.
Please watch for upcoming AUMA Digest issues featuring opportunities for municipalities to manage and mitigate various risks by limiting exposures.
