Municipal World Magazine, a leading publication that covers "all things municipal" across Canada, ran a story last week highlighting the important work Alberta Municipalities' Insurance & Risk Services group does for our members.
Risk Services Manager Daniel Jackson has worked in the insurance industry for more than 12 years, and he has been a member of ABmunis' Insurance & Risk Services team for the last eight years.
Daniel says other insurance companies typically take a "my way or the highway" approach to compliance. Non-compliance may lead to penalties or even the loss of a municipality’s insurance coverage.
Alberta Municipalities tackles risk differently. We have a comprehensive understanding of how municipalities operate, so instead of taking a “do this, don't do this, or else” approach, we offer our members options that can lead to acceptable compromise solutions that benefit everyone. We look for ways to make risk management work for our clients.
“We identify the risks our member-communities face and then give them the tools and guidance needed to improve their risk profiles,” Daniel told Municipal World’s digital content editor Sean Meyer. “I take the approach an in-house risk manager would take. I’m focused on identifying their risks and then figuring out how to mitigate, reduce, or even eliminate them.”
