The Elected Officials Education Program (EOEP) is delivering Munis 101 with the support of Alberta Municipal Affairs to help meet the Municipal Government Act requirements for post-election council orientation. Registration is now open for regional courses; registration for sessions in coordination with RMA and AUMA conventions will take place as part of convention registration. Recognizing that registration is occurring before elections, EOEP has created a ghost registration guide, that outlines how municipalities can register a space for their elected officials generically, and add specific names after the election.
Following the October 18 local elections, eight in-person regional sessions are being held:
November 4 and 5 – Whitecourt
November 6 and 7 – Grande Prairie
November 9 and 10 – Bonnyville
November 15 and 16 – Edmonton (in coordination with AUMA convention)
November 22 and 23 – Edmonton (in coordination with RMA convention)
December 2 and 3 – Lethbridge
December 6 and 7 – Strathmore
December 9 and 10 – Three Hills
In appreciation of the financial strain municipalities are under, every effort is being made to keep EOEP registration fees low, while offering top quality education materials and experience. The registration fee is $375 for in-person sessions.
Munis 101 is the foundational course of our new Municipal Elected Leaders Certificate bestowed in partnership with the University of Alberta’s Augustana Extended Education. The certificate recognizes an elected leader’s commitment to ongoing education through the completion of all seven EOEP courses. Many urban and rural elected officials are already well on their way to receiving a certificate, so you won’t want to miss out.
