SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY campaign: A national partnership

The SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY campaign is the inaugural action of the Resource Communities of Canada Coalition. The campaign will be executed at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) conference in Quebec City this week.

The SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY campaign is a respectful and positive effort to enhance pan-Canadian municipal collaboration to support responsible resource development. The campaign partners with municipalities across Canada and includes AUMA, the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM), the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA), and over 60 Alberta communities.

The goal of the campaign is to help municipalities understand how our Canadian energy industry is intertwined with their communities. Activities at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Conference will be aimed at promoting respectful dialogue regarding the energy industry. Peer-to-peer meetings, a social media campaign, and news media engagement are vital components of the campaign plan.

You can support the campaign in several ways, including visiting the SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY trade show booth (#607) at FCM and picking up your SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY t-shirt, a Let’s Talk Energy button, and more information about the campaign. We will be hosting a kick-off meeting in the Beaumont/Belair room at the Hilton Quebec at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Additional events supporters can attend include:

  • FCM Rural Town Hall: Driving Tomorrow’s Growth at 3:15 p.m. Friday, May 31
  • Sunday morning workshop: Powering Canada through energy development at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, June 2

Also, you can visit our SUPPORT CANADIAN ENERGY page for details on how to lend your support to this campaign.  We are asking our members to follow us at @EnergyCanadian and retweet our posts.
