Update from the Legislature - Jan 20

The 2021 legislative sessional calendar was released on January 15. The spring sitting will commence on February 25, and it is anticipated the provincial budget will be presented that day. AUMA President Barry Morishita recently met with President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance Travis Toews to advocate for the principles contained in our budget submission and to reinforce that economic growth, recovery and resiliency require strong, vibrant communities.

In solidarity with Slave Lake, High Prairie, and other municipal councils, the AUMA executive committee issued a statement in support of the Premier’s removal of Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn from the government caucus due to his refusal to engage with and represent his constituents. We support the message sent by the premier’s actions and the need for the various levels of government to work together to serve their constituents.
