Update from the Legislature - July 14
Premier Jason Kenney shuffled his cabinet on Thursday, removing two MLAs and elevating six others, largely through the creation of three new Associate Minister positions.
Ric McIver continues as Minister of Municipal Affairs. AUMA appreciates the continuity in the Municipal Affairs portfolio and we look forward to continuing to build on our strong working relationship with Minister McIver.
Rajan Sawhney moves from Minister of Community and Social Services to assume the position of Minister of Transportation.
Other changes to Executive Council include:
Ministers
- Jason Luan, MLA for Calgary-Foothills, was appointed Minister of Community and Social Services. He is the former Associate Minister for Mental Health and Addictions.
- Ron Orr, MLA for Lacombe-Ponoka, was appointed Minister of Culture.
Associate Ministers
- Mike Ellis, MLA for Calgary-West, was appointed Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions.
- Tanya Fir, MLA for Calgary-Peigan, was appointed Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction.
- Nate Horner, MLA for Drumheller-Stettler, was appointed Associate Minister of Rural Economic Development, under the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation.
- Whitney Issik, MLA for Calgary-Glenmore, was appointed Associate Minister of Status of Women, under the Ministry of Culture and Status of Women.
- Muhammad Yaseen, MLA for Calgary-North, was appointed Associate Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, under the Ministry of Labour and Immigration.
The Select Special Committee on Real Property Rights continues to meet in advance of their December 15, 2021 deadline to report back to the legislature on their mandate.
