Update from the Legislature - July 28
With the legislature adjourned until October 25, provincial ministers have been touring Alberta and making announcements.
Last week an extension to the Canada–Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Agreement was announced to allow more in-need working parents access to subsidized childcare by increasing the income threshold. Other income-based funding levels are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Minister of Service Alberta announced a $150 million investment to improve broadband in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. Further details on the findings are expected later this summer.
The provincial government also announced that more than 5.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered. At last count, 75.5% of eligible Albertans have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 64% are fully vaccinated.
