Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program - new funding announced

Early in October, the Government of Alberta announced a new round of projects under the Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program (WRRP). WRRP’s focus is to increase the natural ability of the province’s watersheds. Moreover, the program aims to address the impacts of flooding and droughts by restoring priority watershed areas.

AUMA was pleased to hear this announcement early this month. Building watershed resiliency and flood mitigation are important focuses of AUMA’s water policies highlighted in several resolutions. This new funding will allow municipalities to do more preventive work, protecting watersheds while contributing to Alberta’s economic recovery. 

The deadline to apply is January 4, 2021.
