Webinar—Understanding Alberta’s water-sharing agreements
Large municipalities in southern Alberta have signed water-sharing agreements to prepare for severe drought and potential water shortages this summer. Minister Schulz has also asked smaller municipalities in southern Alberta to reduce their water consumption by between five and 10 per cent.
Alberta Municipalities' Understanding Alberta's water-sharing agreements webinar will take place on Thursday, May 16, from 1 to 2 p.m.
During the online seminar, we will summarize the water-sharing agreements and outline how municipalities plan to achieve these water conservation targets. Content is geared towards municipalities in southern Alberta, but all municipalities are welcome to participate. Northern municipalities are encouraged to achieve similar reductions in their water consumption on a voluntary basis, as water scarcity will likely persist in the future.
