Alberta Broadband Fund Stream 2 closes Nov. 8

Municipalities have until November 8 to submit an expression of interest for Stream 2 of the Alberta Broadband Fund (ABF). This funding is available until March 31, 2027, and projects must be complete by this date. This special call for interest is aimed specifically at connecting underserved households identified by the Government of Canada on this map presented on the Government of Alberta website.

Eligible applicants include Canadian entities or groups of entities that operate broadband infrastructure, or entities that do not operate broadband infrastructure but have identified a plan to engage an entity or group that can build, own, or operate broadband infrastructure. Municipalities are among the entities that can apply.

To submit an expression of interest or bring forward questions, including any questions on the map of underserved households, please send anget-connected-branchez-vous [at] ised-isde.gc.ca ( email) to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Interested parties can also reach out to the ABF directly by sa.broadband [at] gov.ab.ca (email).

Alberta Municipalities’ Infrastructure and Small Communities Committee will continue to monitor and advocate for increased access to broadband.  Contact our Advocacy team by advocacy [at] abmunis.ca (email) if you wish to share feedback on opportunities and barriers to broadband service in your community.
