Alberta Municipal Services Corp matches donations for Jasper recovery

The Municipality of Jasper is facing enormous challenges as it recovers and rebuilds after a recent wildfire destroyed 30 per cent of the structures in the town site, throwing many peoples' lives and livelihoods into disarray.

As a member-driven organization, we know how important it is for us to offer support and assistance to our members whenever they experience significant community-wide disasters. We want to provide meaningful support to Jasper in a way that does not add to its many challenges.

The Jasper Community Team Society (JCTS) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that works closely with the Municipality of Jasper. The society is accepting donations for its Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund. All the donations it receives will go to the Jasper community. The fund currently supports residents who have been denied emergency relief funds and those without rental/tenant insurance.

Alberta Municipalities is working directly with Jasper administration, and we are taking steps to support the municipality and their staff. Of note, between now and September 20, ABmunis' business corporation, AMSC, will match any member-municipality’s donations and donations from municipal employees up to an aggregated total of $15,000. As of September 3, more than $8,000 in donations had been raised.

  • Click on this link and then click on the DONATE button.
  • Enter your information.
  • When you get to item #4, under additional information, select the "Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund” and “Alberta Municipalities.” This allows us to track which donations were made by our members, enabling us to match their donations dollar for dollar.

Thank you for considering donating to this fund. Many Alberta organizations and community members have already held fundraising events such as bake sales and food drives, which is wonderful. These efforts show the extent to which communities across Alberta are committed to supporting one another during challenging times.
