Annual survey provides insight into municipal compensation in Alberta
Alberta Municipalities continues to partner with Y Station to provide an annual wage and compensation survey as part of our ongoing commitment to provide robust human resources support and services to our members.
Participants in the survey help establish a benchmark for municipal compensation in Alberta. Our participating members are then able to review their total compensation and consider how it positions their organization in terms of attracting and retaining employees.
The aim of the survey is to:
- Evaluate and compare current compensation rates for key positions
- Better understand the labour market specific to municipalities
- Assess each municipality’s current standing and future direction
- Review total compensation to attract and retain employees.
It also intends to provide insight into:
- The competitive marketplace
- Municipal Profile
- Union Membership
- Change in Salary
- Council Remuneration
- Council Benefits
- Staff Hours & Benefits
- Staff Salaries & Wages
Y Station will conduct the survey from May to August. Results will be available in October. Free aggregate reporting is provided to those municipalities that participate in the survey. Members participating in Employee Benefits will also receive a free customized report. Customized reporting for members who do not participate in Employee Benefits will be available upon request. We encourage all municipalities to participate, thereby strengthening the validity and value of the information.
Recently, your municipality should have received an email with an invitation to participate in the survey; this email provided the link to the secure on-line survey platform. All information gathered will be held in the strictest confidence, with results reported in aggregate, eliminating any recognition of individual responses.
Survey responses must be completed and submitted by August 11, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact us by wagesurvey [at] abmunis.ca (email).
