Update from the Legislature - Feb. 9, 2022
The Legislature is set to resume on Feb. 22, with a Speech from the Throne. The provincial government’s 2022 Budget will be introduced at 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 24. Alberta Municipalities will hold a members-only webinar to present its 2022 Budget analysis on Feb. 25. Check future issues of The Weekly for more details.
Changes to public health measures:
The Government of Alberta announced the phased lifting of COVID-19 related public health measures on Feb. 8.
Step 1, which includes the removal of the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) and lifting capacity limits on venues with capacities under 500, including municipally operated venues such as libraries.
Step 2, which will take effect March 1, will see the removal of several things, including provincial mask mandates, the mandatory work from home requirement, and screening prior to youth activities.
Step 3, which will take effect at an undetermined future date, will see the removal of the remaining restrictions, based on the continued decline of provincial hospitalization rates.
