Remaining ministerial mandate letters released
The fourth and final batch of ministerial mandate letters was released on November 16. The letters focused on healthcare, education and Indigenous relations. A summary of the first three batches of mandate letters appeared in last week’s issue of The Weekly
Premier Smith addresses Albertans on TV
On November 22, Premier Danielle Smith delivered a televised address which outlined the provincial government’s priorities, in advance of next week’s Speech from the Throne which will be delivered on November 29. The Premier’s remarks focused on three main commitments for the fall legislative session:
- An Inflation Reduction Act, which will implement a series of affordability measures
- A health reform action plan
- The introduction of the Alberta Sovereignty Within a United Canada Act.

Opposition Leader Notley rebuts premier's remarks
Provincial NDP Leader Rachel Notley spoke shortly after Premier Smith delivered her televised address to Albertans on November 22. She said several of the affordability measures involve reversals of cost-cutting decisions the current government made earlier in its mandate.
Notley said an NDP government would rebuild Alberta's public health-care system, promising local and timely access to doctors, nurses and paramedics.
