Webinar explores decreasing tenure of CAOs

A recording of our October 13 virtual discussion of the latest Future of Municipal Government (FOMG) paper, Lonely at the Top: An Examination of the Changing Dynamics for CAOs, is now available on ABmunis' Vimeo channel.

Participants noted that the report's findings confirm what those in the municipal world have noted anecdotally – that the tenure of CAOs has been steadily decreasing over the last several years. Discussion focused on the importance of raising awareness of the careers in municipal government as well as providing elected officials with a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities in comparison with those of administration.

As a next step, ABmunis will develop a ‘What We Learned’ report that summarizes the report's findings, themes from the discussion and opportunities for further work to advance the CAO profession. This report will be shared with our members before the end of 2023.
