WIC initiative: Ensuring everyone feels welcome

Alberta Municipalities is helping its members create and maintain healthy, respectful, diverse and vibrant communities where everyone feels they belong.
Our Welcoming and Inclusive Communities (WIC) initiative began in 2006 as a way to support communities as they implement policies and practices that can help overcome issues of racism and discrimination. The initiative strives to create communities where all residents and visitors enjoy a sense of belonging and where diversity adds to the communities’ social and economic success and improves residents’ quality of life.

Municipal elected officials and staff are also invited to attend our next online WIC discussion meeting on March 28, 2024. These meetings are opportunities to learn from other municipalities.
