Alberta has now a centralized abuse helpline

Albertans who know or suspect someone is being abused can now call a centralized helpline that will provide support, information and referrals to the appropriate service. The new phone line is a single point of contact to help ensure a coordinated provincial response to callers.

This integrated reporting system is a response to the recommendations made in Judge Michele Collinson’s report stemming from the Betty Ann Gagnon fatality inquiry.

Any type of abuse or neglect can be anonymously reported:

  • Physical abuse
  • Emotional abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Exploitation
  • Neglect

The number of the abuse helpline is 1-855-4HELPAB (4435722) and it is operated by the Alberta Supports Contact Centre Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
