Provincial Priorities Act now in effect

Bill 18 – the Provincial Priorities Act – came into force on April 1. All funding agreements, amendments and renewals must be submitted to Municipal Affairs. Agreements over $100,000 require ministerial approval. Agreements over $5,000,000 require approval by Executive Council.

Municipalities and designated municipal entities must also submit an intake form to accompany the agreement. The intake form includes information like the value of the agreement, entities involved, agreement start and execution dates. More information is available here.

Last spring, Alberta Municipalities expressed our members’ concerns with this legislation to the provincial government. Now, we are exploring a process to track the impact of the legislation on our members.
