Awards Recognize Municipal Administrators
Alberta Municipalities and the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension are pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of the William F. Lede and Ernest Newman Memorial Bursary.
Kate Brandt, Chief Administrative Officer of the Village of Hussar, Brett Hawken, Director of Community and Protective Services with Big Lakes County, and Lacey Laing, Deputy Mayor for the Town of Bon Accord, are this year’s recipients. All three are administrators who are passionate about working in the municipal public sector, and all three share a common goal: to improve their knowledge and advance their professional careers in this field.
The bursaries were established in the early 1980s with the goal of helping municipal administrators acquire education, training and professional upgrading that is relevant to municipal administrative practice. Both are awarded annually. All current and prospective National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA) students are encouraged to apply.
