Message from President Barry Morishita: 2017 Annual Report now available

You never realize quite how busy you are until you try to pack everything your organization has accomplished into an annual report. As I look through the 2017 Annual Report for AUMA and AMSC, I am beyond impressed with what we managed to do in a busy and challenging year.

Our Policy and Advocacy team had much on their plate, including municipal elections, preparing our members for changes to the MGA, and working through the challenges of the upcoming cannabis legalization. Our team in AMSC was busy as well preparing for changes in employment standards as part of our HR services, successfully negotiating reduced costs for our members as part of our energy retail program, and holding general insurance program rates stable despite record claims globally.

AUMA is here for our members and our successes belong to you as well, which is why we invite our members to submit photos each year to include in our annual report. Thank you to everyone who sent in a photo and a story of how your community showed leadership in 2017. It was impossible to use all the photos that were submitted, but we are holding onto them for potential use in future materials.

To be environmentally-friendly and to ensure the report is available to all our members, we have reduced the number of printed copies and I encourage you to access the 2017 Annual Report electronically through our website.  If you are interested in a hard copy, please let us know and we will make one available to you.

Thank you for your continued support of AUMA, including attending events such as Municipal Leaders’ Caucus and the annual convention, lending your voice to our efforts to advocate for you on important issues, and purchasing business services from AMSC. Everything we are able to accomplish is due to this important relationship with our members, and I thank you for your contributions to our success.

I look forward to seeing everyone at convention in September!
