New grant funding for public transit

AUMA was proud to participate in Alberta Transportation’s recent announcement of the $215 million Alberta Community Transit (ACT) Fund. Charlene Smylie, Director, Villages West, and Mayor of the Village of Wabamun, represented AUMA at the announcements and had the opportunity to share a few words on the importance of safe, accessible and affordable transit for Alberta residents.

During the announcement, Minister Mason put significant emphasis on the importance of regional collaboration and cooperation on transportation project proposals. At AUMA, we believe our communities are stronger when they work together, and having access to this funding will allow Alberta municipalities to be innovative to meet the needs of their communit y, while exploring opportunities to collaborate and develop regional solutions.

We are excited at the potential that will be afforded to villages, towns, and cities across Alberta and encourage our members to access the Alberta Community Transit Fund website for more information. Applications are open until December 31, 2018.
